Wow - 13" Wheels MIA

Just thought I'd share:

I just called 15 different salvage yards within a 200 mile radius and not a single one had any 13" metro wheels.

Yeah small sized stuff is getting rarer to find. Does your metro use a common bolt pattern that something else might use?

There has been a spike recently in the price of scrap steel. The first place yards go for it, after the old american cars, is for steel wheels that do not sell well.

a steel wheel like a metro has is worth over $2 in scrap when any one of us brings it to a salvage yard and that is with the yard making money off the deal when they resell that scrap, so they have little reason to let stuff like wheels sit around longer then they have to.
Not sure on the current alloy prices for scrap but I had one yard tell me that they tend to crush those wheels first because of their higher scrap price.
