Those frigid Alberta Winters hurt FE, that's for sure. I misread Red's two week goal as making the 50 mpg lifetime goal. It's really about making a 1000 km tank.

The reason for this years 50pmg lifetime fuel consumption optomisum is the aprox 10mpg improvement over last years numberss due mostly to LOG ing. the closest I got last year was 49.09mpg. I am hoping that with 60+mpg tanks I am getting now, I can get to the magic 50mpg lifetime average. The numerical inurtia of years of fuel log entries is the problem. I expect that my 90 day mpg numbers will go up quit quickly to the high 50mpg or low 60mpg range, but not the Lifetime FE numbers...

Currently sitting on the 930-950 km range with my ECHO. I know P&G will yield great results but I do not have the patience for it. I wonder if 1000 km is still possible without it.

Anyhow, good luck on the 50 MPG-lifetime goal. I am far from it.

Awesome results with the 'LOG' implementation. I can't wait to try it. I just picked up the work car (Toyota Echo, same as Yaris) for a few days and will be trying some of that. I haven't driven standard in five or six years but it comes back fast. Now to up the difficulty and try 'LOGing'.

With crazy tanks like you just had it's only a matter of time before you're way over 50 mpg lifetime.

1024km 0n 38.2L or 640mile on 10.1 gallons, and I still had 3.8L left in the tank. So LOG ing is the way to get high milage until the Aeromods are done. The next objectives are 60+mpg in 90 days, then maybe 50mpg lifetime average.

movin' on up. I'm sooo close to the 90 day mpg top ten at 58.12mpg and 81.625% over EPA. one more refuel aught to do it. My present progress aught to end at 60+mpg at which point I will have to go back to aero mods.

Impressive Summer results, but your lifetime FE only went from 47.03 on 9/5 to 47.39 today. You may reach your 90 day goal, but 50 mpg lifetime is going to be extremely difficult, with Winter coming on. It will put a lot of inertia in the wrong direction.

You seem to enjoy tormenting me with your California "Winters" I am trying to sustain my state of denial about Alberta Winters, until the midle of October when the first snow storm hits. I am also hoping that LOG ing will keep me higher on the mpg scale than in priviuse "real" winters[an other little fanticy...], we shall see. I should get two or three more refuels before w____.which should get me into the gas car 90 day top Ten mpg for a week or so before reallity hits home.

Red, I paid my dues with 15 w_____s in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas, Alaska, and Utah. I admit, my fuel logs don't suffer much from seasonal drops in efficiency due to California w_____s.

What we're both facing is huge inertia problems. I'm going to have to run a string of about ten 55 mpg tanks to raise my 49.1 mpg lifetime average to 50 mpg. I have 25,000 miles of inertia to raise. You've got more mile inertia, a bigger mpg gap to close, plus seasonal w_____ reversals. But you do have a more capable car.
