Yet the world is still awash with crude

A nice story about how oil demand/supply is so out-of-balance, there is nowhere to put it and it is stacking up in tankers in port.

Ahem........pollution?

I look forward to a clean source of fuel / plastic / etc, and finding more oil just makes me feel like all of that is going to be a low priority.

From the article.

Inventories as high as they've ever been

There is a "massive cushion" of crude oil around the world, with global stockpiles sitting at a record 3 billion barrels, according to the International Energy Agency.
A stunning 487 million barrels of crude is sitting in U.S. inventories, levels unseen at this time of the year in the last 80 years, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
"We've been through a low-price environment all year -- yet the world is still awash with crude here," said Smith.
This can't be...

Renewable alternatives are already available, and they can be developed without a need to expand the current "agricultural frontiers", but then OPEC does its dumping game when they feel threatened by the competition with biofuels...

Let me give you a short behind-the-scenes version of the events: Assad plans to create an Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline to supply oil to Europe. Saudi Arabia and Qatar feel that threatens their own pipeline so they fund the Islamic State to overthrow Assad.

But as IS grows and capures oilfields of their own they become less dependant of Saudi funding.

The Saudis fearing they will lose control of IS flood the market to diminish IS profits.
