... you sometimes keep an eye on engine RPM to detect changing road speed because the digital tachometer has better resolution than your digital speedometer.

You have no idea why it would take more than 12 gallons of fuel to go 700 miles round trip.

Just giving you a hard time.

Correct idea but the 193k mi worn out car only gets 40-43 mpf for the trip( mountains).
And I haven't figured how to clime up a big grade without flooring the accelerator. Suggestions?

to old redneck.

About the older ride not being happy floored up the grade: I understand that you guys w fresh new cars can choose to power up for the ultimate mpg tank.

But people w older, more tired rides need to preserve the drivetrains by being kind for longevity.

That makes for 2nd place mpg, but your vehicle will last, and last.

If you join the flashing heavily loaded big rigs up the grade, you will still get a good tank, PLUS; you are babying your baby for many climbs to come.

It may take some swallowing of a person's pride!

I think that's a small price to pay to know your vehicle will be around for a long time BECAUSE you were nice to it!

YMBEI you pull into the parking lot with your fairly new big diesel pickup and park next to an old Geo Metro and you think, "Hmm, kinda wish I had one of those."

YMBEI you spot a Metro parked on a side street, notice it is an XFI and stop to get a picture.

You know you're an Ecomodder if.....

You see this technical diagram...

... and the first thing you notice are the aerodynamic hub caps!

....You already have them on your car..

... and you made them yourself!

you drive by a used car lot that is bumper to bumper with trucks and SUVs that are decked out in chrome wheels, lift kits, and nerf bars (the kind that will never see dirt or haul anything other than the owners ego and inadequacy) and you mutter, "God, I live amongst idiots."

You are so jaded that every time you look at any car/truck, the un-modded grilles bug
you because you think all front ends should look like George Poteet's Blowfish!
