last summer I managed to go nearly 4 weeks between filling up, this summer I hope to stretch that again as I was using my civic once to twice a week, this summer I think I can pull off using it once every other week, it will really depend on how many trips I have to make to buy stuff for working on the house.
To reduce the use of my civic I plan to bike alot more, use my electric car for those bad weather trips and the trip to work, car pool more and stay home more.

MPG records are cool, but I recently realized that I have been driving below the posted speed limit now for almost a year. Definately a record, both as an individual accomplishment and as a statistical fact that I have not been shot at yet on any of our speedway highways ...

Come to think of it, lets add, 56,000 miles on a single set of tires which still have 60% tread life and no signs of cracking ... due to what? 50psi IMO.

Does reduced use of brakes also contribute?

Hi,

I just posted my second longest distance on a tank, and it is still early February! I drove 499.5 miles, while my best (so far) is 509.3. This tank was my best wintertime tank, ever: 46.29mpg!

A few days in the upper 30's and low 40's, and two days close to 50F is all it took to nearly set a new high! :-)

It must, because come to think of it I am stressing the tire when I brake and take off, therefore if I do that less ala coasting then its reasonable to assume that I stress the tire less thus less wear and tear.

so I pulled my log book out of my ash tray today and started looking at it, I would like to add up each year but to give an example of how I have reduced my driveing over the years, for the month of January, a month that I can't easly ride my bike, motorcycle and at this time have not had any electric cars on the road for that month either.

January 2006 I used 54.455 gallons of gas.
January 2007 I used 23.685 gallons of gas.
January 2008 I used 25.982 gallons of gas.
January 2009 I used 17.167 gallons of gas.

Summer of 2006 I changed jobs to a more local lower stress higher paying job, October 2008 I bought a house closer to the stuffIdo.
