I was at fault initially. I had to send in $50 with my citation to be granted a hearing. I only did that because I had the articles saying there had been mismanagement of the sanding of the roads.
I still had to wait almost three years for the hearing, didn't get the $50 back, and had to pay higher insurance costs because of the accident surcharge
- but they
eventually credited the money I had paid into them. That basically gave me a year and a half off from paying insurance payments.. (I gotta say it was tough going from paying $900 a year to $1,600 a year after the accident, but then having the subsequent time off allowed me to pay off some bills (car loan, credit card, etc...)
