Jacked up ignition switch.

I think EOCing the wife's Sonata might have lead to trouble.

It is an '09 Sonata 4 cyl. 5 speed. It starts fine, but, occasionally, quite often actually, in the run position, the starter still trys to engage, resulting in nasty noises and eventually a shot starter/flywheel.

When it does this, the radio cuts out for a few moments, just as if you did turn the key to start. Moving the key a bit one way or the other gets rid of it/causes it. There doesn't really seem to be a spot where it doesn't happen at all.

How difficult is it to remove the switch and inspect/clean/fix it?

I have received advice to just bring it to a locksmith that works with autos.
