Sounds like you need some skinny tires. Ones you could more easily reach the limits of. Putting big sticky tires on kinda ruined a car for me, sure it was faster / handled better, but I would be laying against the door and hanging off the steering wheel, and I wouldn't even get tire noise if I was under half throttle. Meanwhile balto is having a blast on 165s
