jamesqf: Kalamath Lake is made up to 13'deeper with a hydroelectric dam23'tall with10' of flood control reserve. the lake is a natural lake artificially enlarged if the water drops below this point Klamath Lake is landlocked with no out flow. Draining the Meadow lands removed the filtration this was aggravated by extensive deforestation slowed only by the Spotted Owls. The same cannot be said about all the effected lakes that experience algae related closures. As well as past/ current industrial contamination. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers.
Quote:
Being naturally eutrophic, the lake has been known since early times for its poor water quality. Frémont noted the "often foul smelling waters" of the lake, and the Applegate Trail was purposely routed away from the lake because the water was "so bad that it might be too dangerous for livestock to drink late in the season".wikimapia.org
They are saying the lake has never been really good, but it got worse.
[QUOTE][So what unexpected effects do you think irrigating Baker to Barstow could have?/QUOTE] over population (on a LA scale) of a otherwise uninhabitable desert .the people from the LA basin &Las Vegas would spill into the valley pushing out the farmers, aka history would repeat it self at a faster pace.eg Orange County dusent grow citrus any more just houses with green grass and wet sidewalks & water rashionning.

One thing that would really boost EV sales is a complete fueling network. Its dry from Seattle to Butte Montana the nearest CHADMO is over 200mi from my house yes you can get most places with plug share and kind people on the app that will allow the use thire 110vac through personal 50A CHADMO. But 6-12hr on a 110 every 60-90mi is not practical for cross country ,or my trips to the VA in Helena, Mt 60mi one way @ -40°f with no chargers @the away from home turminal with 2/3 of the bat
used now add renting a room to stay the night wile the car charges. This will persuade many to go gas /diesel. If i had a leaf it wouldn't see a CHADMO not with a maximum range of under 100mi. When I lived in a major metropolitan area it would have worked. Now the system is dictating wear I can live. I'm glad I purchased a diesel instead of a Leaf last year .1)moving to Montana would have cost 15-30x as much to rent a u-haul and car trailer. And 2) the house I am buying (for 1/3, including tax/insurance, the average small apartment rental+ renters insurance cost) would not have been an option (lack of charging network) 3)having to have a 2nd car to go see family 5and 10hrs away.
.freebeard you for one can atest to my desire to go hybrid. You have only seen my attempts to generate non -crankshaft electricity., but to what end? The free power would be used to make my 2wd into a rear diesel x front electric 4x4 among other things.
Gumby stay flexible.
