One time I drove it 1150km and the gauge wasn't even in the red. I had been known to get about another 80-100km out of the remaining fuel. I loved the car, and I am sure it will show well above that very conservative EPA rating. In order to get the best fuel economy, I removed the interior except for the front seats and the dash. I turned back the fuel screw and advanced the timing, a lot. Have fun
Oh, and I removed the air filter snorkel, and used only the bottom half of the airbox, with the filter taped in.
Those are some nice fuel economy numbers! I hope I can get my car to that level! I have advanced the timing already, but I haven't touched the fuel screw on the injector pump. The EPA rating on the car is very low compared to what people have been getting.

Diesels are so rare around my area also! I jumped on the car when I saw it for sale. Everyone thinks I'm crazy to spend money on it but I think it is a great car. Haven't even seen any diesel pickups for sale around here.
