Honestly I'm tuning the car with an NGK AFX unit that I know matches up with another PLX and a local dyno shop's LM-1. I plan on going back and seeing what the JAW sees of my tune.
Honestly, the JAW is a hobbyist piece. If you can deal with an Innovate it's not much more complex to set up BUT the serial communication on the device is prone to glitches. You must use a short and high quality DB9 cable or else you are in for frustration. I am 100% sure it will be fine for my intended use as the backbone of a closedloop system, even if I end up not trusting it to tune with. Sorry I can't be of more help, I'll let you know next week.
I've owned a few Techedge units; two 2A0 and a 2C0. Both 2A0 were kits, one worked fine for years but the other shipped with a bad surface mount ADC. The 2C0 worked for four hours them died. I won't buy another. Innovates are a bit of a hassle, but very handy when you need to do serial logging as when reflashing scoobies. For a straight analog out unit w/ a display I really must recommend the NGK AFX.
The water injection will be a simple on/off affair controlled by the ECU, it really seems easiest although I believe I could hijack the EBC function to do a PWM control. Once the engine is up to temp, and meets cruise conditions, it will turn on the water injection pump and switch to leaner secondary mappings. I have absolutely no clue what AFRs I'll be able to run; I have tuned the part throttles stoich but there were a couple spots in the maps that read mid 16s and I had no loss of power/driveability. Much like the JAW I need to play with the system to find out what it will do for me. :P
