The software stuff might not be just software. Could be connections, circuits, and other stuff. IOW not something that can be fixed via download.

The braking is pretty poor but I read in one of the articles that Tesla recommends 45psi in the tires! That is going to increase braking distance all by itself.

(Please don't flame me re hyperinflating tires; I've done it myself. Doesn't mean it doesn't increase braking distances.)
