I know nothing about tax law in the US but in Australia, if you earn money from pursuing the area, everything you spend is tax deductible. That makes it a good investment for me, no matter how much I use it!

(And I sold an article on the electronics of the dyno to a UK magazine, and I have a commission from a publisher to write a book on home dynos when I want to.)

I guess I could hire the dyno out, but over the long term, it's worth it to me as it is.
