cRiPpLe_rOoStEr -- a question for you. In the video at 13:23 there is a '1987' steering wheel. Were those available in production vehicles? Me want.
More generally, they cover two body-swapped mid-engine cars, one Porsrche Boxter and the other a 914. I'd have been more interested when I was younger. For an example of a well done
front-engine body swap,
Drift Ghia.
Buuut... The first example is the amphibious Beetle; IMHO the best amphibian conversion. No added flotation, just the rerouted exhaust, the propeller and a bilge pump.
I like the exhaust. It's a good spot for some shiny motorcycle mufflers, maybe some clamp-on fins for radiator/aero duct benefit?
And ditch the prop for an hydrojet or two in speed holes in the back of the rear fenders. I'd add an inner sill (like the Type 181 or EMPI Sportster) and put bilge pumps in the gap. More step-over height = less sinking.
edit:
And... I'm off chasing another wild goose. It occurs to me (having had river water come up over my headlights once in the Superbeetle) that a fiberglass 'Willys' hood with that beak would part the waters better.
Then 1939 Chevy teardrop headlights, like my rat rod '57.
They sit nose high in the water, A Baja'd rear end would balance out better. Unshroud the front wheels for better steering on the water and it looks like this:
