News: Hybrid sales continue to rise, even as overall vehicle sales fall

Via Green Car Congress: Reported US Sales of Hybrids Up 27.3% In January 2008

Hybrid sales are up, despite: "total new light-duty vehicle sales in January declined 4.2% year-on-year, with total passenger car sales declining 2.3% and total light truck sales dropping 6.1%."

The four year old Prius model remains the undisputed leader, with "best-ever January sales of 11,379 units, an increase of 37.1% over last January."

Together, hybrids took 2.14% of the new vehicle sales total for the month.
