I can echo what Ben says: the controller doesn't get too hot. (One of the "advantages" of a low power, relatively short range EV is you don't make enough power for long enough!)

But hot enough that I added a heat sink to it. As for location, the Curtis is fully potted, so mounting it somewhere that it can get splashed shouldn't be a problem (assuming you insulate the connections after you hook it up).

Too bad about the plasma cutter.
