New tube was smooth and straight with only a single slight bend. I felt better throttle response so I know it worked but not sure if my mpg dip was from that, or if I had a heavier foot feeling better throttle response. I'd be in more of a rush to fix it but surprisingly the smell of gas isn't as strong from my car now so I wonder if it's actually making the car run leaner. Air/fuel gauge shows I'm running pretty lean but I do smell gas still so I'm hoping the o2 sensor is just old and can't put out a strong enough signal for the both the ECU and the Gauge since I'm 99% positive I did the wiring alright. Might try to shorten the cable to the gauge too since I did leave a little extra just in case and it might just be too much. Been trying to replace the o2 sensor but old one is seized on there really tight so I've been spraying penetrating oil on it every day for a few days now. Probably going to run this next tank all the way through with a check engine light on sadly."

Only been driving a day with it BUT MAN there is a difference. I'm not driving the same car anymore! Check engine light is gone, it's running way smoother, feels more responsive, and is way quieter. I have a good feeling my MPG is going to be substantially better on my next log entry."
2022-05-26 345.5 7.573 $4.01 45.62 "First tank with the new O2 sensor. Engine is certainly running way smoother and has more usable power. I think I need to possibly change my driving methods since I had modified my habits for the best results with how the engine used to run. New O2 sensor doesn't heat up quick enough to keep the check engine light off so I have to turn the car off and turn it back on once I start getting readings from the O2 sensor and oddly it cools off really fast so even if the engine is off for 5 minutes it won't heat back up till I get moving, in fact it doesn't seem to get hot enough to work even when I'm sitting idle. Need to look into this further. I also notice if I drive with the check engine light on the engine will run rich coasting or idle but lean with any amount of throttle, but with the check engine light off it runs optimally most of the time unless I drop throttle enough for 5 or less on the vacuum gauge then it goes to rich which seems normal."

Most people seem to go with a deepcycle battery for this reason but I went the opposite direction getting a 12 pound cheap amazon $70 agm battery that's meant as a secondary battery to supplement sound systems. I chose that battery cause A $100 cheaper than the normal battery and B much lighter than the normal battery. Now the battery does have the drawback of having only half the capacity of the stock battery so it dies faster, but it also charges faster. Had the idea tonight just before I got gas to supplement that battery using my jumpstart battery. My jumpstart battery is wired up to my car battery at all times already. It only weighs about 3 pounds I think, I just always had it in the car to begin with in case I needed it so all I am doing now is just when I cut the engine, I lean over and hit the jumpstart button and it kicks on and keeps my battery charged. Boom, solves the engine off coasting issues with the lightweight battery so deep cycle isn't necessary. I charge it off a cig lighter plug so I'll charge it during the day and use it at night. I'll update how it goes on the next fill up"

My vacuum gauge has colored zones to indicate good and poor eco so my tactic has been to not allow myself to press the accelerator enough to leave the green zone as much as possible, even when accelerating. If I have to accelerate more my second self limit point is 10 on the vacuum gauge, then if that isn't enough I try to just never go past 5 in the red zone. I also attempt to shift as soon as the car will let me which is generally every 10mph increase. so 10mph go to 2nd, 20mph go to 3rd, etc. I also try to not leave the green when going uphill allowing myself to decelerate as long as I'm not holding up traffic and using the downhill to reaccelerate. I also try to engine off coast when possible and ride 18wheeler slip steams at a safe distance. Overall the general trend seems to be my mpg has been on the rise with these tactics, but I can't do them as much in heavy traffic, or long steep hills. Long hills Idk what to do yet since I can't use my initial inertia to get me most the way up them I try to stay in as high of a gear as possible and press all the way down to the red power zone just about 5 on the vacuum gauge. I have no idea if this is a good option or not however. Honestly not 100% about anything I am doing, just doing what feels right and recording things here."
