At about 250-300 miles I discovered it was the EGR. After extensive research, I have decided to block the flow into the intake and experiment with mpg. At about 300 miles I placed a piece of metal and some cork gasgate material between the egr and teh manifold intake pipe. Vacuum is now about 23 at idle, where as the previous max was 19."

That said, weather is getting much colder. Engine temp never rose above 170 on the morning commute.
