The car had 3 miles on the odometer when I took delivery of it. This was the break-in tank. PLENTY of WOT runs on this tank. I was NOT in any way trying to hypermile on this tank, I was trying to do a proper break-in. Next tank will have some hypermiling in it to see what the car is capable of."
2013-04-21 629.5 14.203 $3.579 44.32 "First tank of actually trying to hypermile the car. Still learning what this car likes and what it doesn't like as far as speed and throttle position goes. Mainly using DWL, no cruise, some neutral coasting when pulling in to work, getting off an on ramp, or pulling in to the driveway."
2013-04-30 594.9 14.608 $3.579 40.72 "I didn't hypermile the car the entire time on this tank. I actually got to have some fun with it. So it seems this car can still be fun to drive and still turn out MPGs above the EPA highway estimates."

The 2.5"" intercooler pipes could also be contributing towards this as well."

2013-08-13 663.9 14.397 $3.529 46.11 "Did some errand running in the city on this tank. I also deleted the AGS shutters at the end of the tank to see how well of a power improvement I'd get."
2013-08-30 662 14.474 $3.899 45.74 "This tank had mostly 93 octane in it. I DID remove the AGS shutters on this tank, which did reduce the MPGs some. 2013-09-18 687.5 14.936 $3.629 46.03 "I Drove home one day at the speed limit, other than that, this was a typical hypermiling tank. This tank had Shell 93 in it, so will the next tank."

2013-11-08 685 14.658 $3.449 46.73 "I got to drive a nice rural route on this to my grandmothers and hypermile a bit more."
2013-11-27 633 14.551 $3.599 43.5 "This was the worst tank I've had in a long time. I unplugged what I thought was the power source to the A/C clutch since I can't get to the wiring harness for the humidity sensor. 2014-04-14 635.8 14.623 $3.939 43.48 "Another trip to and from Louisville on this tank. Didn't hypermile much at all on that trip. I saw speeds up to 95 MPH at some points and stayed in boost for over 30 miles straight. Average speed was 48.1 MPH over this entire tank. 2014-04-27 671.8 14.908 $3.859 45.06 "One trip to Louisville again on this tank. Construction work on I65 caused me to sit still for over half an hour until I could turn around and detour. Average speed was 43.9 MPH."
2014-05-10 601.7 13.99 $3.899 43.01 "Filled up Saturday. This tank of gas had Marathon 93 octane fuel and it shows. I had to fill up on the way to Louisville last time and there wasn't any Shell gas stations within my fuel range and the light was on. This tank also had a lot more city driving on it than what I normally have."
2014-06-03 709.4 14.764 $3.989 48.05 "This has been the first tank in a long time that I've actually tried hypermiling under my normal driving routine. This is also the first tank that I've hypermiled on with hot weather with my tune and my lighter wheels. Looks like those 2 mods are paying off. I even had more city driving on this tank than what I normally have."

2014-09-02 223.7 4.753 $3.579 47.07 "This was strictly an emergency trip partial tank to Louisville. My normal throttle position during my commute is 23.9. I never stayed under 27.1 the entire way. Maximum throttle position was 29.0, which was enough to keep it out of boost for the most part. On some very steep hills I would see .5-.75 psi when slowing down quite a bit at 29.0. Average speed was 56.4 MPH. TFT said 43.5 MPG. I was very surprised to get that high of gas mileage this time around. The catless downpipe really helps with the highway MPGs."
2014-09-15 694.6 15.119 $3.599 45.94 "I suspect this tank didn't get filled up all the way like what I normally do because both the UG and the TFT were way off from the actual. This was at a Marathon gas station, which I rarely go to. The new tank now has my normal Shell 93 octane back in it. The weather also cooled down considerably through the last 1/4 of this tank. We had several 50 degree mornings and 65 degree days during this tank. Average speed was 43.5 MPH. TFT said 48.3 MPG."
2014-09-30 716.1 14.863 $3.499 48.18 "This tank had some A/C use in it since I was hauling the family around some, and I had more city driving than usually as well. Considering that, I'm still very happy with the MPGs I got from this. Shell VPower as always.

2014-10-20 704 14.941 $3.149 47.12 "I had a lot more city driving on this tank than normal, running the family around town and whatnot, but still not bad. I also reverted back to the WAI configuration in the middle of the tank. IATs are around 8 degrees hotter than when I had the CAI installed. I'll be working on a grill block for the winter as well to increase IATs further since I only have 2 AGS fins on my car.

2014-11-05 692.3 14.46 $3.119 47.88 "This marks the end of my ideal hypermiling commute. I have started car pooling with my wife as she now has a job at my employer, but at a different location on the other side of the city. Needless to say, I will be doing more in-city driving now. I will also be picking up my daughter in this car from her great-aunt's house when coming home from work. She lives out in the sticks, on a small, twisty road that has some large, steep hills that require boost to make it up on. This tank wasn't very bad though, considering that the last 180 miles or so of this tank included this new commute, PLUS I dogged the **** out of this car a few different times on this tank, knowing that this commute would start before I filled up again. Very, Very satisfied with the mileage I got, all things considering. TFT said 46.8 MPG"
2014-11-18 610.9 13.917 $3.139 43.9 "Filled up with Marathon 93 since I didn't trust the range to make it back to the town I work at that has Shell gas. This tank involved my new commute with my carpooler, a race against a supercharged Grand Prix, and running with cruise on at 72 MPH (hitting 85+ downhill) for 30 miles one night. Very impressed with the average MPG to say the least. TFT said 42.3 MPG."

2014-12-12 658 15.032 $2.799 43.77 "Filled up with Shell VPower once again. That last tank that I just ran out had anywhere from 1.5-2 gallons of Marathon gas in it still. My commute has changed a little and it's for the better. There was still a lot of city driving in this tank, and there probably will be going forward (traveling across town to meet my wife for lunch). I can't comment on if the 75% grill block that was added on right before this tank helped, or if it was just just switching back to Shell that did it, but the mileage is up by almost 1.5 MPG from the last tank. I personally don't think the grill block is doing much though because my IATs are only a mere 4 degrees higher than without the grill block. I guess my big FMIC is just too good, I'll try to block the intercooler off entirely and see if that helps.

I'm not car pooling with my wife for the summer, so my city driving will drop quite a bit, so long as she doesn't make me drive across town everyday for lunch
I'm having a problem with my parking brake right now. My rear driver's side brake is sticking anytime I pull up on the parking brake lever, so I've stopped using the P brake for now until I find time to sort that out. 2015-12-10 645.9 14.648 $2.299 44.09 "It's been over a month since I've had to fill up due to how infrequently I've been driving the car as of late. This will be the last tank I'll see for a while of pretty good MPG figures and for a few reasons: 1. Winter blend gas is definitely in my tanks now. 2. My IATs are quite low now due to having no AGS (I'm seeing IATs only around 22-25 degrees above ambient). 3. I'm not going to be hypermiling the car as extremely. After being so used to just cruising down the road in the Durango all the time, it's just too stressful having to watch behind me more than in front of me for people not paying attention to how much slower I'm driving compared to them.

I'm going to start this experiment off with this new tank of gas I got last night. I'm going to increase my baseline throttle position that I use on level terrain from 23.9% to 25.9%, or a 2% increase. I'm going to keep my hill climbing throttle positions of 27.1% and 29.0% the same as before. I'm not stressing on the hills because I'm carrying a good bit of speed, it's just the level terrain where the speed drops off to an unsafe level. 25.9% should keep my speed close to 55 MPH on level roads with no headwind. We'll see what kind of a hit my mileage takes from this in a month or so I guess...

I experimented on this tank with using 25.9% throttle for my flat road driving instead of my normal 23.9%. It shows in the average speed as well. This is mixed city/highway tank, with some aggressive city driving, and short race against my Durango R/T (the Dart pulled away from it). The average speed doesn't really reflect this much due to me doing a lot more in-town driving on this tank, but the average speed will be noticeably higher on any tanks where I don't run errands like I did on this tank. Overall I'm still impressed with the MPG considering how fast I'm driving the car. I can't give it much more throttle on normal cruising without actually boosting. This next tank will definitely be lower. I was supposed to bring my old charger's exhaust to work to sell to a co-worker today and forgot. I ran home and picked up in and didn't obey any speed limits in the process. I tried keeping my throttle at 31.0%, but that is about the upper limits that you can go before Multi-Air takes over and opens the throttle wide open. I was fighting the Multi-Air over the entire 55 mile round trip. Keeping the throttle at 31.0% equated to a 72 MPH speed on a flat road with crosswinds. Keeping that throttle position on the hills would drop me down to around 62MPH at the tops of them, and up to 84 MPH at the bottom of the hills. My boost only varied slightly the entire way. I was consistently boosting 1.16-1.305 psi the entire way.

It'll be interesting to see if I can still hold on to a 40MPG average over this tank. My average speed was around 70 MPH by the time I got to work for the beginning of this tank."

2017-08-14 575.5 14.341 $2.699 40.13 "On this tank I plugged back in the power for the A/C and drove the car a lot faster than I normally do. The family and myself took a trip up to Washington state and I wanted them to ride in comfort up to the airport. I drove using 31.0% throttle instead of the 27.1% I've been using.
Now I do have to fight with the Multi-Air system when using this much throttle. The car wants to basically open up the throttle all the way and let the intake valves control the amount of air making it's way into the combustion chamber. This normally happens when heading down hill and picking up speeds in excess of 75 MPH, but I can get it back down to 31.0% throttle with a second or two of me seeing the throttle opening up all the way simply by backing off the gas pedal a little, then increasing the throttle back up to 31.0%. At this throttle setting, the car drives in boost 100% of the time. Depending on the load I'm placing on the engine (driving on flat roads or going up hill) I'll see anywhere from .87 PSI to 1.5 PSI of boost. When holding this throttle position, the slowest speed I get down to on the largest hill in my commute is 62 MPH. The fastest speed I've seen was 87 MPH. The average speed will be lower than both due to the city driving I have in my commute.
I've also changed how I shift gears when driving like this. To prevent lugging the engine, I shift at about 3,250 RPMS on the 1-2 shift, 2,750-3,000 RPMS on the 2-3 shift, 2,500 RPMS on the 3-4 shift, and 2,500 RPMs on the 4-6 shift (I can drive for several days without ever using 5th gear). Even with driving this fast, my car still surpassed EPA estimates (39 MPG for my trim level):
