What heater pad did you use for the transmission? I would like to do the same thing or similar. I was planning on using a Kats 4"x5" 150W pad heater. I haven't looked at the transmission itself yet, and yours seems to fit nicely.

Also, how did you attach the heater so it would make good contact with the transmission case with all the bumps in it? I assume the surface beneath is not flat. Is that the top or bottom, front back?

Also, how effective you find this plate heater is?
Do you live it "on" overnight?

Hi Daox, The bottom picture is the heating pad for the transmission. The pad is either 2"x5" or 2"x7", I can't remember for sure. It was the only size I could find that would fit without going over any "bumps" on the underside of the transmission. It is 100 watts and I got it from Amazon. I don't think you could get a 4" x 5" pad to work on the trans.

The top picture is a 4"x 5" pad on the bottom of the oil pad. In order to not have any "bumps" to go over on the bottom of the oil pan I "shaved" two of the ridges level with an orbital sander with 100 grit sandpaper. (No oil leaks after 1 year ) This pad is 250 watts.

These two pads are able to get the oil temp to 180 degrees within 2 hours, but my car is parked in and insulated but not heated garage that rarely gets below 50 degrees. You may want higher watts for the oil pan heater pad.

Hope this helps.

I plug in the heating pads 2 hours before I leave the house, which is enough time to heat the oil to 180 degrees. My car is parked in an insulated but not heated garage each night and it rarely gets below 50 degrees, so you may need higher watt heaters of a longer heat up time.

Do you have a block heater installed? If so, which one did you use? It's often close to 30F here when I leave for work, and I would love to have cabin heat right off the bat... But the factory insight block heater is discontinued.

I think Honda's block heaters are near universal. Pretty sure mine is for an HCH1 and was in the ballpark of $60.

However, I can run it all night and I still don't get instant heat. Warmup is a lot shorter and economy is better, but the vents still blow cold for a bit.

Oh thanks for the info! I'll pick up one for an HCH1 and see what happens. I would love to know the plug size, could probably get a higher powered one on Amazon.

The block heater plug hole is the same size on most of our 4 cylinder cars. I got mine on Amazon listed for a 92 civic VX.

It is located on the back of the block under the exhaust
