They don’t check for that here in WV that I’m aware of. All my inspections so far have been lights and tires and I’ve had tint checked a couple times.

That's still a good point.

I mean it might affect economy a little in town but on the highway weight matters very little, however with the planned weight reduction and increase in power the car should become quite spry while still returning great mileage

More progress on the car. I removed, lightened and reinstalled the entire center console and armrest assembly, took the entire thing apart and lightened each piece individually and reassembled. Gathering all the shavings and other bits that I took off, I estimate I shaved a pound or two. Two plastic grocery bags totally full of shavings and a partial third bag. Took me like 15 hours over the course of three days to drill all the holes

Makes me wonder how hard it's going to be to keep it clean.

I’m realizing as I work on this project that it’s gonna be ridiculously hard to keep clean. Likely the entire interior will have to come out periodically for a cleaning of the base metals

Given that I’m broke and I wanna continue making progress, I’m choosing the free weight reduction. It just takes time

Fifteen hours! Nice work, man. And thanks for taking the time to share the work and all the pics of it. Inspires.

I finally finished lightening all the pieces of my dash and swapped them all over, doing an airbag delete in the process. I have no idea how many man hours are involved in drilling all the holes in the dash paneling, I’ve long since lost count. Some of these panels predictably gave better gains than others but that’s okay. I guesstimate that including the airbag delete I’ve taken out 15-20lb so far in this project. It doesn’t sound like much, does it?
