Tight turns? Like the bolts? The upper 3 were easy to get off, the lower two required disconnecting a couple hoses.

My Civic EGR had a number of 90- and 180° turns, which seemed to have more carbon than the rest.

Somewhat, yes, but comparatively there wasn't much build up there. I just used a wire brush in one hand and a vacuum extension in the other to catch the buildup before it fell anywhere. Most of the carbon was in the plate itself, it was pretty much caked full.

Gearing up to head back to university in a little over a week. Changed the oil and polished the headlights today.
Turns out that one of the 2 chips on the driver's side LED went out, so I'm looking into their warranty and will probably switch to HIDs using a plug-n-play kit from the DDMTuners site ( https://ddmtuning.com/DDM-HID-Kit-Sl...ast-35W-or-55W). Debating between 4300K and 5000K for color. If I end up doing this I'll be aiming the headlights a bit lower until I can install projectors this winter or spring.
Black vinyl wrap comes tomorrow or Friday so i can redo my mirror deletes and grille block. The full lower grille block makes the engine get a little warm in the WV/VA mountains if the temp is >85 *F, so I'll reduce it down to about 80%.
I want to get the bumper repainted but I'm waiting until I move off of a dirt road, as I will be extremely OCD about any chips after it's repainted.

I installed the DDM kit on my 98 Civic maybe 9 years ago. Still works great.

Did you go with the 4300K or 5000K bulbs? Wasn't too big of a fan of the 6000K LEDs but the only other color option for those was 3000K..

I used 4300k in my car for years and thought they were just about the right color.

TBH, I can't remember. Whatever would have most conformed to the look of the 1998 Halogens in the fixtures... 2700K? 3000K?

Probably 4300K then, I'm guessing. 3000K is yellow, 4300K is off white, 5000k is white, 6000k is white with a hint of blue.
$60 + $20 shipping is steep but not too bad compared to other quality HID kits, but if LED headlights are just going to crap out on me then I might as well go HID since I can't see crap with halogens on the Insight even with clean housings.
