Anything but a box van will have some taper after the rear axle. Any transition should be smooth on it's face. The minimal case is the separation edge you see on newer cars.

There's driver sight-lines, but also keeping the tail light visible. Not to mention parking problems etc. that come with added length.

A full boat tail could be a pain in the aft, so you see truncations and boxed cavities.

I'm looking at adding this

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...c00BjwwmY&mp=1

to the front and then attaching an air-dam to it. I found some 90 degree adhesive rubber that looks to be 2-3 inches where it would hang down. I think this would be a pretty good solution. What are your thoughts on the add on?

It looks like it's meant to add drag and add additional downforce to the front.

I just thought it would be pretty much the same as doing a air dam if I'm hanging something down below it?

It's cheap enough. Give it a try and post your results?

That was my plan. Just don't want to order it, do all the work and it be known to not do anything.

But 'aLIExpress' (couldn't resist) wants me to join Facebook or Twitter so I can sign in. As if.

What does it look like?

This is the lip I'm looking at. Thinking of then putting a rubber 90 degree air dam on the bottom of it. I thought that might be better than trying to put the same rubber air dam straight on the car. Thought that it would bring it out just that bit wider to get around the front wheels.

Then I was going to try and fabricate some kind of radius to get air around the front wheel wells. I'm also working on rear wheel skirts for it.

If I'm doing the air dam, would figuring out wheel spats be worth looking into also? Or would it not help anything due to the air dam?

Thanks.

I like the part. When you say 90° are you thinking about an airdam extension or a diverter/dive plane?

In any case it appears to have a rudimentary air curtain pointed at the front tire. The thing might be to make a gusset plate that extends it up to that crease in the fenderwell. It's hard to say from the one picture.

A wheel spat would obviate the need for a deeper air dam.

Thinking back to Permalink #4, I'm curious whether this vehicle has twin electric motors driving the rear axle.

Not necessarily; plenty of production cars use both, like this 2019 Volt:

.
Toyota's website only says "electric all-wheel drive" or something similar, but this article says one electric motor at the rear, similar to the Prius AWD-e setup.
