88mpg, '94 Geo Metro 3-5 some experience!

hey all, my daily driver, a '94 geo metro 3-5 gets 47 city, and 88hwy. I've just finally sold my white geo a '93 , 3-5, and with one more "Gadget" on it, I had it getting 56 city, and 72 hwy. I'm sure if I'd been able to do another "Test" it would've got 78, maybe 80 on the freeway!

I too have some "gadgets"!

True, they consist mostly of a bunch of roof flashing and a rear wing from a Subaru, but unlike numb nut's* above's "gadgets", mine actually exist, are installed on a current vehicle I drive daily, and are documented on here for everybody to admire and share should they want to!

*to be clear "numb nuts" = Gaud29, not the rest of you guys

Okay, Gaud, I'll bite.

What gadget?

I'm not saying you didn't achieve 88mpg. But you'll have to admit that with just a little bit of perusal on the Garage listings, even middle 70s mpg isn't a common occurrence and the majority of participants here are a lot more forthcoming with what they've done to achieve the mileage they post.

So dish. Tell us.

To clear the air a little, gaud29 contacted me via e-mail yesterday needing a bit of assistance on how to use the forum. (This isn't completely unusual: we have a few other members who have posted some really good stuff, but needed help getting started.)

I asked about the 88 mpg fill-up, and he was forthcoming about his test route, driving technique & fill method. The fill-up is a bit of a red flag: it's a very small amount. I mentioned this would generate skepticism, but he defended his method. (I'll let him speak for himself.)

As for the mods, we didn't talk about those, but I'm willing to wait & hear him out.

He's got my attention, anyway!
