No, I would hope to see some improvement in a lean burn engine. But it's a project for later.

Worked a bit on Aerocivic today! I started on the driver's side.

Even though the wheel bearings felt fine, I went ahead and ordered a pair of Timken front bearings (no sense in taking it all apart again soon, just going to do it all at once), and I'll drop them off with the knuckles and lower ball joints to have them pressed in. Lower and upper control arms replaced, axles replaced, all bushings replaced. I had to cut the tie rods in half to get them out, but those are replaced now.

I also began to assemble an MPGuino. The SuperMID that's in the car works, but it reads exactly half the real fuel economy (limit of adjustment) and the screen is getting rather tired.

I also ordered a set of Insight aluminum brake calipers, coated rotors, ceramic brake pads, and rear aluminum drums.

I'd love to have done ceramic ultra low friction wheel bearings, but it looks like a set of those is north of $1,000. That's not in the cards.

I sent the drums and rotors for my Superbeetle out for cryogenic tempering. It supposedly double or triples the service life of the parts and basically doubled their cost.

Seems to have worked so far.

Knew I was forgetting something. Didn't order new seals for the transmission. Pulled the axles out and it started leaking.

Someone from Hotcars also spotted Aerocivic on its way to its new home and wrote an article. Do a 1000 mile drive and get two spontaneous articles written as a result.

A guy I know out here in California oh, someone who knows all about the modifications on my car, also "spontaneously" sent me a screenshot of one of these articles about the AeroCivic on its way northward. I had the pleasure of telling him that I "know" both builder and the buyer and the route it took to its new home in old New England.

I'd say it counts. At the very least, you know where we hang out and socialize. With very little digging, you can probably even figure out my address. I doubt the pictures I upload have their metadata stripped.

Comical update: the shop I took the knuckles to broke their 5 ton SnapOn hydraulic press trying to press the bearings out.
