Because driver technique, weather conditions, average speed, and traffic conditions have little to no effect?

I know, I know that was sarcasm. But I'll give a serious answer.

When in grad school, I took a course in Dynamic Measurements. A whole semester studying all the ways that readouts lie.

Summary: There is no such thing as a readout, any readout, that is 100% accurate. There is only "good enough".

That's just for the readout. Don't forget the confounding factors: temperature, wind, speed, driving habits, terrain, elevation, tire pressure, tire wear, engine efficiency, ...

22 Maverick: Summer 2022 burned 62.74 gallons in 3145.1 miles for 50.1 MPG. Winter 2023-2024 - 2416.7 miles, 58.66 gallons for 41 MPG.

I tried these magnets once and they did nothing. A friend tried then at the same time with the same results. We both felt a little foolish at the time. I don't know if I ever confessed to this before.

I just told people the magnets were there to "...capture iron particles in the gasoline..." and hoped the listener(s) believed it (wink, wink).

The best and only and probably why dont we all do it reason for magnets is on the fuel filter, oil filter, and possible the side or bottom of the fuel tank to hold the metal there , but ,,, never remove them . loose particles could really cause trouble.
