I could see the cool factor of FUV being such that motorcyclists give "the wave". I know I would. I'm not sure 2 Aptera's passing each other would even make eye contact, let alone greet one another.
The Aptera is as heavy as a Mazda Miata (another two seater) and has already gotten great crash test reviews. It's being designed to meet car safety levels, not just motorcycle safety levels. According to Sandy Munro the car already met such safety levels before he got his hands on it and he says he's going to make it even safer.

Besides, I believe the Aptera is for a different audience than the FUV. The FUV is more motorcycle like since it is an open tandem. The Aptera is an enclosed side-by-side with heat and air-conditioning. The Aptera competes with cars like the Mazda Miata. The FUV competes with motorcycles and scooters.

Arcimoto are headed down-market with their Platform 2. An Aptera-level potential competitor is Nobe. And they also have Sandy Munro on board.

Nobe is another one I'd love to see actually get made. But IIRC their whole operation burned down.

~26:30 oh thank goodness. Glass, not polycarbonate. That would've totally killed it for me.

Oh, blame it on bureaucrats... On a sidenote, AFAIK there is no objection to polycarbonate or any other sorts of plexiglass for motorcycle windshields.

i remember when in a magazine (Popular Science?) It had the original Aptera on the cover with "300mpg vehicle" on it. It was supposed to be either a plug-in hybrid or EV depending on your options. I also vaguely recall the very first prototype having a diesel engine.

According to those at Aptera they'd only use polycarbonate if they could find a coating that makes it as good as glass.
