You should have suggested your property that is prone to flooding... and tell them they can leave the keys with you too.

Strength of brine isn't as much a factor in accelerated testing. You need a good electrolyte, and a way to keep it warm and wet.

I've always wondered why those old Fords show up at Bonneville every year for decades.

My son wouldn't even drive his STR-8 onto the flats. I sprayed the underside with WD-40 beforehand, drove into town each night to use a coin-op car wash on the underside, and pressure washed twice as soon as I got home. Then when it went out of control on some black ice a year or two later, I found out the steering box was binding. I don't actually know what it was like before the trip.

Salt water is an electrolyte.

Port Orchard Washington has (or at least used to have 25 years ago) a free public pressurized fresh water, under body wash station, by the salt water boat launch. I thought that was great, but there is hardly a shortage of fresh water around Port Orchard.

The #1 use of fresh water on our aircraft carrier at sea was washing planes, more than showers but that was before they let women on board. Not a dig on women but a dig on men who didn't shower for other men.

All the way home, I looked for some high water to ford. Here's the SUPERBeetle after a baptism in the Willamette flood waters:

It was only 6-7", but the bow wave went over the headlights.

Ugh, I read through all 39 pages. As a woman, I bought into the Arcimoto because it is made in Oregon, all electric, under $15,000 (I qualify for all $5000 in rebates), and is self limiting for my son with autism. It checks all my boxes, but I admit to having weird boxes. Three of us put in so I will only have $5000 in after the rebates. Even with only half doors, the extras (locking box, 1/2 doors, software, etc) make it super expensive but, in my lowly opinion, worth it. We all get to drive it around for fun and I don't mind advertising to the college students and people interested in alternative transportation. I also have a 2017 Subaru Impreza so ....

Everything past that point contradicts this. I confuse easily. First post though, eh?

The AEV upthread shows that the build quality and performance justifies the price. I'm in for the original $12.9K price point and the Minimum Viable Product. Autonomy and renting it out to anyone with a smartphone don't interest me. I'd use a [jail-broken] iPod Touch for the sound system.

I have only $100 on the table and lots of patience.

Yes, first time poster. In my defense, it was a long read. I'm a little surprised you didn't just go all in. I would imagine with the fewer parts and simplicity you wouldn't have to fix problems that pop up constantly like on older cars.

How can 3 people take rebates on one "car"? I have no idea how Oregon works but that seems wierd. Why wouldn't 3 or 4 people get together and get a free one of these? Or 20 get together and share a Tesla for free?

Oregon is a weird place.

One of my Commanders had been in the Navy and said their showers cut out after three minutes. We had female Soldiers with buzz cuts, but most had significantly more hair than the males, so I do not know how many would be able to keep up. I have told many negative stories about one ex, but she was in the Navy for a year, and while I think that I shower quickly, she showered and shaved faster than I showered, and I never felt her personal hygiene was insufficient.
