Apologies for not getting back about this -

The extra power was a luxury, but frankly it towed fine with the stock 67hp 3 cylinder. The upsized front brakes were probably more of a factor. The rear end of the car got lighter however, making it easier for the tail to wag the dog, but that's easily solved by putting some of the load into the hatch.

Considering how featherweight is the Insight, and how other "underpowered" engines are still fitted to some commercial vehicles in my country (either old or new), it wouldn't surprise me to see the Insight towing reasonably well.

LOL! My kind of thinking regarding pointless bureaucracy.

Reminds me of how it's illegal to be in a boat without access to a life jacket, but perfectly legal to be in the lake without one. If someone ever got pulled over and asked about it, just jump in the lake.

... and I very reluctantly have become open to the idea of owning a boat. The progression went like this. I miss my standup jetski that was stolen and want to replace it. Now that I have a family, it's selfish to buy a single occupancy toy. Sit down jetski that seats 3 and can tow tubes, then. Except I've got a family of 4 now, so need something bigger. Then, if I want to spend time with my best friend and his family of 5, I'm gonna need a bigger boat.

Xyla Foxlin built a teardrop

Amazing what you can do with funding, a complete shop and a crew on demand.

She's pretty thorough, breaking the edge on the 'rafters' so it won't score the roofing. Clocking the bolts on the aluminum extrusion frame.

I'm only fifteen minutes in.

As it doesn't have wheels, dragging it would be the most likely attempt to move it. Unless it's properly anchored

Got the first practical use out of my hitch yesterday. Some pickups may beat the 39mpg I got taking the table home, but very few are also convertibles.

Well done, although I am more impressed you don't report a COP telling you to park that and get a truck.

How do they rate those hitch carriers? I would think carrying something with a center of mass like 4' off the bumper would put some good torque and stress on that hitch.
