Subaru tried with the Baja. I debated on (a used) one for a long time but the comprises just didn't seem worth it.

legally in California it's not a real truck.

in order to legally be a real truck it has to have BODY on frame truck chassis.

it uses passenger rated tires 105 load index

a pickup tire is 121 load index

also the Successor was the Chevrolet SSR which was a total failure in the US
Model years 2004–2006

which was based on the GMT360 truck platform also all the classics were built on a "truck platform chassis "
A friend out west has an Odyssey van,of which it shares it's platform with the Ridgeline/Pilot? If so ,that van carries more cargo around than all the pickups in Parker County combined (just a bit of confabulation). It's secure,weathertight,'long-bed',and can tow a fairly large load. And averages around 24-mpg.It's been a pretty good compromise to a dedicated 1/2-ton pickup.

i despise vans hate the window wipers it does not even get the whole windscreen.. I rented one I asked for a Ford Transit Connect they gave me a Dodge scare-a-van

that junk was so unstable at 65MPH near 18wheelers .. nearly lost control using that unstable junk yard garbage.. it only had a 250 pound load in the back area i got about 24MPG driving it at 110MPH most of the time on the way from Los Angeles to Phoenix az and back did the 1000 mile round trip in under 12 hours (loading time of 15min) averaged 24MPG with it.

that was 1MPG less the EPA

My memory isn't to be trusted, but when I lived there,if the CHP caught anyone driving that fast it would be considered manslaughter, whether anyone was ever hurt or not,and punishable by prison time.

An Odyssey actually has 200 MORE pounds of payload rating compared to a Ridgeline. Additionally I was just watching a Ridgeline vs Ranger comparison where the Ridgeline had more payload than the Ranger.

When I lived in CALI, over 80 was chp discretion for lockup, above 100 was get out of car you're going to jail. Most people ticketed got written up for 80.

Rangers are heavy, not a lot of gwvr left.

All the dodge stuff I ever drove, crud sticks to the wiper blades lifting them off the window. Work fine when they get cleaned

My previous company car was a 2014 Dodge Caravan. Not a fan.

I do like vans though. The Pacifica plug-in seems nice, if a bit unrefined in the integration of electric/ICE.

I always felt like the Ridgeline could have been something. Seems expensive, and 22 MPG isn't impressive. Grandfather always wanted one, but ended up getting a Colorado 4x4 instead.

i think you never been to Texas the speed limit is 80....

there was very little choice as that was traffic speed at the time everyone was going 95mph to 105mph... 18wheelers were going about 85-90mph
