My 2 cents.
Sure, we can adapt. But moving millions away from the coasts is going to be both bloody and difficult.

The more worrying question is how much of our biosphere will survive the ocean acidification and rapid climatic shifts. Species can adapt to climate shifts, but not on such a short time scale.

Scientists in general weren't predicting an ice age. It was popular media that was fixated on it.

And we know why the world was cooling slightly... or, to put it more accurately... why warming had slowed... particulate and sulfur emissions. Both of which have been curtailed in the interest of public health. Beyond that, the brief period in which these emissions outweighed CO2 contributions was just that. Brief.

The world is warming.

Yes, it has been warmer in the past.

But ice core and other records show that such warming wasn't as abrupt.

And in those times, the sea level was much higher and the climate was much different.

And no, moving populations to cope will not be easy. Just look at the Syrian crisis. That's just a few million people and we're struggling to cope with that.

Imagine that happening across the globe.

We will see how much warming there is when the Beaufort gyre unloads, grand solar minimum and the mount pinatubo level eruption we are over due for happens.
Pollution had nothing to do with the 1970s cool down.
But I like how the believers think everything is man's fault.

No - scientists did not think we were starting an ice age then. This is a myth based on a faked Time cover. There were two articles in regular magazines, and those misrepresented what was happening.

We had a lot of particulate pollution, and this was cooling things a bit, but we cleaned up our act a bit, and the warming resumed.

Clouds are a mixed bag, and we are refining this as we learn more.

Lowered albedo is now becoming clearer, and also melt water and moulins are being studied. Dark snow and water have much lower albedo than fresh snow.

No one seems to know what caused the 1970s cool down.
This is rich.
Just more "just more it was man's fault" and now "it never happened".

Scott Adams has a video up on Youtube titled Scott Adams talks about parade persuasion, Pelosi, Uranium One, and climate models. I'm listening right now, he burns through the other subjects in 11 minutes and spends the rest of the 37 minutes on climate models. I'll have to listen again, but I think it's pretty good.

[spoiler] His conclusion is that humans are cave people and with Virtual Reality and a Vitamin D Machine the New Golden Age will be underground.

Huh? What are you talking about? We know what caused it - particulates in the air.

I am starting to read some articles about a new solar grand minimum approaching similar to the little ice age of 1645.

People insist scientists know exactly what causes autism. When I ask them to enlighten me they mumble incoherently.
