If only we found a way to make everybody's car more economical, we'd save so much on fuel we'd be able to start a moon and a mars colony.

Space exploration starts here

Complete revolution of personal transportation is the first step. Not for space exploration. But we might be able to continue growing food for 9 Billion people.

Civilization of 7.5 billion people existentially dependent on burning some 10 billion tonnes of carbon every year cannot make a rapid turnaround: the scale and the embedded nature of this dependence means that moving away from fossil fuels will be a prolonged process. Remember: despite all the investment in renewables since 1990 there has not been the slightest REDUCTION in carbon emissions globally, with new records set every year. This means that in the net terms the transitions has NOT even started!
If you can peel off an off-world economy and let it evolve independently, then it need not drag down the transition.

I had just assumed he meant that once humans put down roots in agriculture, we had ruined our ideal existence of hunting/gathering. Now that you ask for clarification, I'm not sure my assumption was correct.

That said, I certainly have less harmful parasites than humans of any previous era; thanks entirely to science / technology. Perhaps my vices have grown in quantity, but that's not the same as a parasite.

Gas stations over here are running out of gas. Some have run out for over 2 days before resupply. Due to a combination of congestion, a lack of truck drivers but mostly a drop in water levels caused by a two month drought.

Tanker ships can reach some harbors only with a reduced load - or not at all. The western part of the Rhine has been banned for shipping to redistribute fresh water stored in the IJsselmeer and Markermeer lakes.

Coming Thursday we might get some rain.

On Youtube today Bill Whittle channel posted _Their True Color is GREEN_. I won't link to it (It's findable) since its off-topic, about how Democrats think the rich are being over-taxed; but here's the transcript of the concluding thought:

Quote:
in conclusion let me just say this was
11:09
the best the best way to think about
11:11
this is this most people think that
11:14
Leonardo DiCaprio uses his jet so that
11:19
he can go to environmental conferences
11:21
but that's exactly wrong Leonardo
11:23
DiCaprio flies to environmental
11:25
conferences so that he can have the jet
11:27
once you understand this everything
11:30
makes sense everything he's not using
11:33
the jet to save the environment he's
11:34
saving the environment in order to have
11:36
the jet it it it is essentially an
11:40
indulgence written by mother earth to to
11:42
him and him alone that allows him to do
11:45
the kind of things he wants to do that
11:46
he contends everybody else for doing
Interesting that he uses the word 'contends' rather than 'condemns'. Although that could be a transcription error, it's not clear.
