*Earth's geologic record has many accounts of polarity 'excursions',where the field partially reverses, then 'jumps' back to the original dipole orientation. These events cannot be predicted.By anyone.
Recently declassified documents (the Adam and Eve story*) suggest that that happens a lot, but so quickly the geologic record doesn't show it.

As per Potholer54's reporting,Ben Davidson has no command of the language of Glaciology. It's not a criticism, just an observation.

There might be a case for the House and Senate being required to use a rigorous scientific metric in the confirmation process for POTUS nominees. It wouldn't matter how lame the president or their nominees were,Congress simply wouldn't be able to install the minion/sychophant/boot-lickers without an extreme portfolio of real qualifications. Not just whether or not they sexually molested someone when they were drunk.
That's asking for a lot. And assumes Congress is less lame that the Executive.
Separation of powers, etc.

As a tangent, why does POTUS get to appoint supreme court justices for life? That job should be just like any other, where we either elect them, or they are internally promoted to the position.
Maybe an occasional head count or requirement for proof-of-life?

*I'll stick to the asterisks as a way to discern between different subjects and make easier to locate. They're bullets and used by many.
*Davidson said nothing of mini novas in the youtube. If you want to preface the video beforehand with these embellishments great.Otherwise one can't be expected to know anything about them.
*Ben never mentioned excursions and neither did you.I can't read minds.
*I'm not interested in your impressions of potholer. It's not germane to SO' content.
*The permalink was maybe three pages back. The link wouldn't work.If you see a cyclone which appears visually, vertically bifurcated,it has to do with the lack of entrainment of water or particulates. The vortex is there,it's just invisible.Sometimes in Reed Timmer's tornado videos the funnels won't be visible until they get low enough to touch ground, otherwise just looking like a scud cloud.
*If you were AOC you'd do exactly what she does.Climate Silence needs to be addressed. Not enough voices if you ask me.81% of registered voter are egging her on.
*Redpoint mentioned appointees. My comment attempted to address the challenge.I'm not a political animal. If Congress had a non-negotiable template that they had to use for the nominee confirmation process, maybe morons wouldn't make it into agencies.
*Yes,at least see if they could fog a mirror.

Climate Silence? What? Is that different to pushback?

I would not use climate anxiety to push communism.

FCVs have large fuel cells and radiators and a small battery. They need large fuel cells to produce enough energy to climb a hill, which would deplete that battery. They need large radiators because fuel cells are notoriously heat sensitive.

A plugin FCV could have much smaller fuel cells, a smaller hydrogen tank (size matters a lot in pressurized vessel costs) and 'normal' sized radiators. That alone would free up enough space for quite some extra battery storage. And electricity will always be cheaper than hydrogen.

In the words of systems theorist Kenneth Boulding: “Anyone who believes exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist.”

Economists of all people should be acutely aware of the limitations of exponential growth.

People that saw housing prices appreciating at a higher rate than inflation year after year, and comprehend the problem of exponential growth saw the impending collapse.

This from Subverse (this Subverse, not that other one):

Quote:
Earth's BIGGEST Problem is NOT Global Warming
An intergovernmental group of hundreds of scientists have identified accelerating extinction rates as the biggest problem facing our planet right now. Ecosystems are deteriorating and more species of plants and animals are threatened than ever before in human history.

What year did South Australia start building out it's wind generation and prematurely retiring thermal production?

We have been there before, but here goes:
https://theconversation.com/factchec...ble-grid-92928

It is no simple matter, and environmental policies do not play a major role.

Yes, environmental policies weigh harder on South Australia than anywhere else. But the difference is a small fraction of total costs.
