There's some logic to the counter, that consumption per capita is the proper focus, as those individuals would have a larger share of responsibility for the problem.

But, imagine a country comprised of 1 person that has 1000x more per capita consumption than another country. It's still not worth focusing as much attention on because it's less overall consumption than other countries.

So, I think there is probably more logic devoting more attention to countries with overall larger emissions than the ones with overall fewer emissions. After all, the environment doesn't care who's culpable, it only responds to overall emissions.

I'm not a AOC fan or a Greta fan, at all.

What motivates me is that Austin, Texas used to average 14 days over 100*F per year. This was a long-term average going back to the 1800s. This year, we're at 56 so far. Last year, it was 51 days over 100. It's going to be a desert at this rate.

Glad you mentioned the IPCC.

Nobody says the world is ending in 12 years. 'Cept some religious nutjob somewhere.

The IPCC's work and your position are quite different. Are you sure you have read their material?

Oh, and while your at it.

I need the dates for the #2 polluting country India as well...

Thanks...

Did she not leapfrog all that by going to the U.N.?

You are scared of them.

The neo-con talking points are providing this narrative.

That's the thing it is new information.

The most productive dinner conversation I've had in decades included the grandchildren of a guy I went to high school (and worked at the feed & seed company) with. Instead of the usual intrafamily squabbling, I led with 'don't believe the teenagers, the world won't end in ten years'. And they went right down the space weather rabbit-hole with me. The mom said she'd never heard they talk about it before. I said nobody was talking about it four years ago, and they hadn't absorb the old way of thinking.
Silent Spring, 1962. A book that jumpstarted public concerns about the environment.

Earth Day 1970. Big media coverage. Prompted Nixon to form the EPA. 49 years ago.

Exxon was a leader in climate change research, producing many papers. 1977 acknowledged fossil fuel's role. Publicly produced denier propaganda after that.

IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change). Formed 1988. 31 years ago.

A quick little overview of the history of climate change studies: https://www.environmentalscience.org...climate-change

I know, I know. It's not as compelling as professional ball-chasing statistics. And reproducing takes much time and energy. It's only about the planet after all.

Their conservative trends seem agreeable on this latest report.
Right now I'm reading their latest 1170 page report right now.
Lots of cherry picking, some invalid sample sizes and a little hyperbole that the retards like AOC blow way out of proportion.
No one saying anything that would indicate the planet will be much more hostile even going out 300 years even with the cherry picking.

The more liberal definitions of climate change i can find say climate change is what takes place over decades, not less than a decade.
Their words, not mine.
I just said I agree with their trends. How is that a being a denier?
