solar forcing

Any climate report out there has a list of papers, studies and reports used. For the 2021 report they cite a solar forcing as a one of their sources but don't actually use it anywhere in the report. So now we know they are aware of and willfully ignore the science that interferes with their predetermined outcome.
The "oh my god particle" has its own Wikipedia page.
Solar forcing has always been a component of the general circulation models.
On a watts/ square-meter basis, solar forcing is nothing compared to anthropogenic forcing.
It's not about the Sun, it's about us.

The sun has way more potential to kill us than made up global warming.

omg particle

So, one per cubic-kilometer, each 200-years, and most filtered out by the atmosphere.
That'll sure keep me up nights.

🤔

I guess we better not turn them off then...

I differ with you on that one.
'Climate' happens within 8-miles of sea-level. Anything not 'coupled' to the troposphere ( and I'm not saying that there aren't things ) would generally be of no interest to a climatologist.
There were two assertions. Which one?

Climate may be limited to the atmosphere but weather goes all the way to the Heliopause.

potential to kill

I can say with all confidence that, barring unforeseen circumstances, the Sun WILL kill all life on Earth that happens to survive climate change. It is absolutely guaranteed.
The bigger question is, what happens in the intervening billions of years.

Assertion # 1, climate scientists did not use any radiometric data received after 1996 for their general circulation models for the 2021 UN climate reporting.
Assertion # 2, the radiometric data they did use, had been de-bunked.

' Climate' goes to 8-miles.

All it will take is an x100 class solar flare pointed at earth and anything that bigger than a micro grid fries.

That's a big 10-4!
In the summer of 1992, the National Solar Observatory, while imaging with the Hubble Space Telescope picked up a flare which erupted on a young star while trained on the Pleides. Had this flare occurred on the Sun, it would have sterilized the surface of the Earth.
Enjoy everyday. They're not to be taken for granted.

There have been recent flares that if the Earth had been 3 months earlier (or later?) in it's orbit we'd have already been toast.

I confuse easily. Your Permalink #288 was a response to a direct quote from Permalink #286
  • Assertion #1 It's all one thing.
  • Assertion #2 Science and philosophy used to be one thing as well.
Climate, as such, is limited to a thin layer between the Lithosphere and the Karmann Line. Are you saying it's insulated on both interfaces, or scientists are just myopic.
