And Facebook Marketplace is only a step or two better.

So far, I'm sticking with Craigslist. I paid to relist my Caddy and it has now sold. I got far more responses with the last, paid ad than all my earlier free ads. Not sure why, it was the same ad. Maybe people had less crap to sift through. Maybe just because it's sunnier out.

I also bought a Suburban. '03 5.3L V8, 172k miles, $950. So, there's some cheap vehicles still around too.

It's maybe not as bad as I feared.

Putting thoughts into text is hard.

For my 4th grade son, that's okay, and we're working with it. For an adult engaging in commerce in a text based medium, it's inexcusable.

RIP finding a beater/amazing deal there now. I like to window shop and the legit ads for low dollar cars/deals are gone.

For sure. I revise most of my posts several times before posting, and they still end up with silly mistakes and incoherent thoughts. I'll even edit them down the road as errors and awkward structure becomes apparent to me.

That said, a bare minimum for selling something that requires a text-based search should include the model of the thing being sold.

...and Craigslist... if people would take the time they spent typing misleading "keywords" and instead describe their item better, they would have smoother transactions. Nobody looking for a Prius is going to come across a Hummer ad because of the keywords and then say "gee, that's exactly what I was looking for".

It aggravates me when I feel that I need to tell an adult "Use your words."

I am paid to tell children to do that.

Dating profiles do not look better than for sale postings. I hate to wonder how résumés look.

It hurts.

I try really hard not to address my workers with a sweet "if you can tell me to my face, why can't you tell the customer through your keyboard?" Really hard. I have to keep reminding myself that a new hire would actually need to be taught more.

They're not millenials, either. They're both in their 60s and have tons of experience in the field. With computers. They've worked at keyboards for decades and can't express thoughts through them.

A good friend of mine came from Korea when he was 14 (he's in his 50s now) and speaks nearly without accent, and has a larger vocabulary than 95% of native English speakers, yet his Korean is unavoidable in print. Writing is more difficult than speaking because it isn't done as often, and lacks the other queues that convey meaning that spoken words benefit from.

Apparently it doesn't matter if you put info in the ad or not, you'll still get asked about it. I'm trying to sell a laptop that has a battery that only lasts about 30 minutes, which I stated in the ad. Today I get a text asking how long the battery lasts.

This is why there is a resilient eBay box auction market

You can buy a $100+ empty box for anything including iPhone 10r, PS5 you name it
