Today I was annoyed by the new Lexus Hybrid commercial in which the driver is selfishly weaving in and out of traffic and then causes an accident.

This "it's all about me" attitude is wrong, but these advertisers know that some people think this way.

A more accurate message to get across is that mpg depends not just on the car, but on every single input the driver makes.

TV car commercials... I recall a VW ad where they show some jackhole circling around looking for a parking spot while his stereo is thumping in all these people's homes. I actually wrote to VW and asked "What are you thinking???"

Agreed. My work computer is equipped with the pencil-eraser nub and 3 mouse-buttons below the spacebar, which I forced myself to use long ago and turned out really liking it. So much so, I disabled the miserable touchpad and its associated 2 mouse buttons. I have an old Dell with a touchpad that won't work in the first 60-seconds after opening the lid, then it's approximate at best. The biggest problem is the lack of easily replacing it. I guess there's always a wireless LED Mouse (if you have room).

Ugh, what gets me is that someone turns onto a street with the sensor pad(making a wide, lazy arc) and trips the darn thing.

RE: merging... Never really understood what's going through the mind of the driver that is trying to merge, is 'ahead' of me (in the merge lane vs me on the freeway), and decides that slowing down while merging onto the freeway is the best course of action...

Thankfully, in most cases I have room to move over a lane and then I don't really care... but on the rare occasions I can't ...

people who "fix" things that aren't broken. There is a reason the M1911 Pistol has been around for 100 years, it's a proven design that didn't need to be changed, take a lesson. if you start working at a new place and there is a proven system in place, don't change it to how you think it should be and then get mad at the person who you put in charge of making the changes for you when those changes cause the system to fail.

At the risk of venturing into politics, that's one of my daily annoyances. You're having what seems to be a reasonable discussion, and someone's sure to interject "it's all about the US military starting wars for oil".

It's almost as bad as the way the detection of a few atoms of Xenon-133 trigger the "Omigawd, it's radioactive! We're all gonna DIE!" reflex.

car commercials are an annoyance every other minute. They have way too much money and time on their hands.
