The only window flag that should be allowed is one that will warn other drivers that the owner is mentally/socially handicapped.
The mere presence of window flag(s) is the sign of a mental defect of some sort.

I'm especially impressed when droves of motorists have football team flags out. Are they team members? Are they cheerleaders? What???

The best one was (too bad I didn't get a pic! ) the prototypical willfully ignorant redneck: looked just like my avatar, drove a big ol' rotted out 4x4, and had a FULL SIZE FLAG on a pole sticking outta the bed. In that case, however, there probably was no discernable difference in fe i.e. miserable vs non-existent.

I actually DO know a guy who looks just like your avatar. He doesn't wear a hat, though.

Been working slightly on my newest bought car (3 months ago) the last few days.
It's the 1st year Chev. Monza fastback ('75) 2 previous owner's ago, they took out the V8, and inserted an Isuzu Diesel w 5spd.

The last 3 cars that I have bought are all special to me. I consider each one to be a rare find.

The '87 Crx that has returned a best 62.9 mpg so far, and was not modified by some 17 yr. at Ricer Central!

The '84 VW Quantum wagon w dead Audi 5cyl. w factory 5spd. It's waiting for diesel transplant so I can enjoy 52-57+ mpg w motorhome comfort like my previous '82 did.

And the Monza mentioned above.

What do these 3 cars have in common that annoy me so much?
They all have 'flippin sunroofs that leaked! It rains alot here and stays cooler, so it's the last thing I could care about!

The VW is a fact. steel unit. The other 2 I believe are aftermarket.

I've taken RV black roof sealer to all 3. It works well, and won't break down UV ray wise.
It's just difficult to have a real nice finished look. The Crx came out the best!

The Monza's plexi in the closed position sticks up way higher than it's rubber weatherstripping. So it's like I'm forming clay .
I resent the aero hiccups that these sunroofs make even when fully closed....... less roof structural stability....yuck!!!!

Did I mention I strongly dislike sunroof's? Thanks for letting me vent. Don't let your friend's DO sunroof's!

DID I MENTION I STRONGLY DISLIKE SUNROOF'S????? AAAAAAAARRRGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The second 89 Accord I had leaked. I had to park facing uphill to keep it from leaking, but I loved it. I got rid of it back in 01 and haven't had a sunroof since and I miss them.

You are free to express socialistic, bitter anti-American views - however, I have never seen and currently do not see any such trivial window flags on cars here. I have lived in and near NY City my entire life, and I am well over 50 years of age. The one exception of flags on cars was after 9/11 when the WTC towers were attacked and this city bore the full brunt of the destruction. People proudly displayed American flags everywhere, including on their vehicles, out of frustration and grief.

You can blame America for many things, but not for this apparent penchant for trite flags by those in your country.

First, New York City is not typical of America. I've seen those flags around here, though they're not common.

Second, I would not call this observation anti-American. To me it seems more anti-rest of the world. I've noticed this myself, in my travels. When other countries adopt American things, it is almost always the worst America has to offer: McDonalds, popular "music", etc.

I hadn't realized what a bunch of flag waving idiots we had here. I just thought the US ambassador to Canada owned a couple hundred cars and was always shuttling between Ottawa and Washington through New Hampshire, taking a variety of routes and changing cars every few minutes. I wondered how he could afford so many cars and why they didn't just let him use a plane.

They are? Looks more like the Red Cross insignia to me. And if so, they might be serving a useful purpose, marking medical aid vehicles at some event?
