Such a glut of oil yet gasoline prices are still nearly $3 a gallon here.

I wonder if EVs are where all of the efficiency-conscious people are going? Maybe we can get some range-extending threads going to climb the charts in Google and see if we get a little more traffic.

Happy twelfth birthday!

Wow, twelve years? A lot has changed in my life, but wanted to stop in to see if my account was still active and saw this post! Serendipity!

Darin, thanks for keeping it going - economical diy will never die.

I think it's a natural progression more and more of us will follow once cheap used EVs become available.
I jumped in early since I got such a good deal on the Volt after I had killed the big battery in Ron Burgundy, but I would have ended up there before too long anyway. The phenomenal mpge of EVs is pretty addictive for a hypermiler!

How exactly do the lurkers come out of the woodwork once a year? Is this just a tradition for them? Do they spend eleven months merely glancing at the updates, but then log in when they see potentially free stuff?

There is the fossil fuel free forum.

Perhaps it would be in the interest of EM to dedicate a thread to EV? Fossil fuel free encompasses too much, from bicycles to sailboats.

I've been intending to go EV for a long time now. It will still be worthwhile to discuss ways to extend range, charge faster, properly maintain the battery, etc. All of the aero tricks apply to EV as ICE.

Not going to lie, the first few sentences of this post and the "move to WhatsApp" broke my heart.
Lurking is a lot easier than getting out in the street and working on the underbody paneling.. but don't count me out! Every mile I drive, I'm thinking how to reduce drag and increase efficiency. I'm glad that Ecomodder is here to stay.

Thank you guys for keeping this site alive and happy 12th birthday!

G'day y'all,
Happy 12th Birthday and hope there will be many more to come.
Here in New Zealand petrol/gas prices are 2.2 dollar per liter that is about 8,3 dollar per gallon, so you guys are lucky it is still so cheap in the US compared to us here.
I dont often say something here , but always look forward to the e-magazine with its great ideas and questions and answers.
Thanx and Greetings Eddie.

Some of us are into OCD hypermiling as much as ever... We've just slid over to making our wives and girlfriends (may they never meet...) wear lap blankets when riding in our electric cars in winter... ; ) My Geo Metro has become my one seat, one bunk road trip camper. My 2007 Yaris hatch is my fire breathing heater winter car, and my white Chevy Bolt EV is ... WOW! She's named Eee-Vah. (Eve. from Wall-E movie) So green, hypermiling efficiency has gotten way easier with Eve... The interest is still out there, its just gotten EV easy.

I blew my first engine in '68 trying to lean burn. Burnt #6 exhaust valve off the stem. Found it in the oil pan.
And I have been ecomodding ever since. I just didn't know what to call it until you folks came along. Thanks for a fun 12 years.
