I still follow a few threads on here.

My 2 best eco-mods;

1. Convert to natural gas. 0.10/ltr(at home) VS 1.20/ltr reg gas.

2. Retire! No more 120 km commutes!

Keep up the good work.

Fracked gas & diesel seems the most extremely harmful to the environment. I guess environmental consciousness and eco modding are not mutually exclusive.

Indeed. Eco modding reduces the amount of gas used (as does driving less). And I wish we (Canada) would stop producing fracked oil. It makes me ashamed.

Fellow lurker here 😬 Happy Birthday to Ecomodder!

I am curious if any of you would be interested in starting a Facebook group as well? I belong to another auto-related group as well as the online forum and I enjoy interacting on both platforms. Just a thought.

Thank you guys for keeping this site going!

Cng-clean natural gas vehicle, clean diesel.

Industry greenwashing & marketing of these alternative fuels as green is anything but green. I take issue with the brainwashing of naive Americans , & propose we all start calling it for what it is from now on, "fracked gas" & "dirty diesel."

Get Americans to seriously consider the repercussions their choices make at the fuel pump.

I do however love how VW got outed at Diesel-gate, & did a 180 towards EVs. Good on them for making that improvement.

While I personally don't like being responsible for oil spills & wars, I equally don't want to be responsible for child slave labor of cobalt or heavily polluting lithium mining. That's why I ride my bike as much as humanly possible, ride public transportation & if I must drive, I use all 100+ of ecomodder's hypermiling tips!!

If any experienced ecomodders in NYC wanna show me their builds & share with me your results firsthand, I'm willing to learn & make improvements!!

Btw, I know hypermiling decreases fossil fuel consumption, but does it decrease emissions at the tail pipe?

Happy birthday from another lurker! I have done some things to mine, I’ll update my thread soon, I am now rolling in insight wheels i got from a junkyard and put a fresh set of re92s on, working on a grill block currently too. Also picked up a couple more cars I’ll add to my profile and got rid of the 4Runner

I am trying to find the source that lithium is some horrible to mine material... it is not. Most comes from salt flats, like in South America. It is usually not 'mined'. Maybe there is something horrible about it I am not aware and have not found a credible source for...

Cobalt that comes from the Congo is problematic, but companies can make sure (or at least try) to not get their cobalt they need from there... but most new battery chemistries are reducing or removing the need for cobalt, so that should be phasing out... and petroleum refining uses cobalt also.

I also think that all the metals in the lithium ion (iron phosphate, etc) can be recycled and used in new batteries.

Child labor is an issue in many parts of the world, just like it was in the US and Europe in the past. Hopefully with education and improved economies, these countries can transition away from child labor in the near future.

How are countries like Congo going to develop if we're going to place a social embargo on them by not buying their cobalt?

That's the story of every developing nation; that their cheap labor brings investments to their country and they use that to grow.

As an aside, there is a direct relationship between fossil fuel consumption and wealth. If we're talking about Congo growing economically, we're talking about growing their oil consumption for the foreseeable future.

No! They need renewable energy because it is good and fossil fuels are bad! They also need organic, gluten-free, locally-sourced, and free-range crops!

How did we get here from random words that count as one contest entry?
