Econobox seat comfort improvement

Let’s discuss one of the most important aspects of owning a fuel sipping economy car.

THE SEATS

You won’t save fuel if you don’t want to drive the thing and many of the most popular models for hypermiling aren’t exactly well appointed. My base model Saturn is no exception having transitioned to it from a 89 Cadillac brougham limo I was daily driving

What tricks or products have you guys discovered that adds to driver comfort. Particularly if you are built like Al Bundy

I’ve always wanted to try one and will probably start with a beaded seat cover.

One inadvertent improvement I discovered is that removing the floor carpet and sound insulation made the footwell area around the petals feel vastly larger. Much more than you’d expect from 3/4 of an inch. An ant infestation and leaky seals prompted me to rip the carpet out. Surprisingly the car didn’t get much noisier and lost probably 80# of stinky soggy carpet

Sheepskin seat cover. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

I have tried upgrading the driver seat of my car as it doesn't give me sufficient support.
With the stock seat I spend a lot of energy on not flying around in the car in corners.
Sadly my bucketseat (OMP TRSE XS) that I use for simracing does not fit the stock rails on the drivers side.
However it does fit the passenger side, so I'm tempted to buy the required parts from an UK model...

In my Insight, I changed the seats out. For whatever reason I could not make the stock seats comfortable for me. I tried pillows, lower lumbar support, sitting a dozen different ways, and while some provided minor improvement in lower back pain, all still hurt on drives longer than maybe 45 minutes (and when I got the car I was in my early 20's).

The new seats add around 40lbs to the car but they don't hurt me. What's surprising to me is that I can't really identify why the new ones don't hurt. They're no softer or firmer, and they're shaped fairly similarly. They're even from another Honda and probably have similar design origins.
