1996 Honda Civic 2 Door (Runs and Drives Great) Ice Cold Ac - $1500 (Glendale, AZ)

Quote:
Manual, power windows and door locks, single cd disk, ice cold ac, brand new tires, we'll maintained, this car will serve your purpose, runs and rives very good, good condition in and out, clear az title, emissions good, asking $1500 O.B.O call
https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/c...615404754.html

This looks like a nicer, yet four years-older version of my car, yet I paid 90% more four years ago. The hood doesn't have crazing like mine. The clear coat flaked off instead! The paint above the rear passenger window and above the rear passenger tire look weird. There is not a clear indication of which submodel this is, but an LX with HX wheels should get better fuel economy than my HX with HX wheels, a bad head gasket, and low compression.

If I had $1,500 and I saw this earlier I would have tried to see this today. We will see if it is still up on Friday, although I am positive that I have seen this before.

Nice looking. My car almost exactly. That's my exact dash configuration. But you have power window LUXURY! And a pin stripe! But seriously, it has the HX wheels but the ad does not say if it is an HX. But I will bet it is. It must be. The HX coupe only came with power windows. The LX had power windows but did not come as a coupe, I don't think. That center arm rest is an HX marker too. The DX came as a coupe, but it was kinda the base model and pin stripes and fancy wheels? ... Nah. It's an HX.

Reddit gold for you!

I did not realize that the LX did not come in a coupe. The EX did! The center console seems like a basic feature, although makes sense that the DX did not come with this. The car sure looks weird without it! While it would annoy me to drive this way, I think people would swap wheels far more than they would add an armrest.

I have seen LXes with HX wheels and HXes without.

Was it my parts car thread where I talked about VINs and engine compartments? I would like to add the data that you kindly provided.

I should probably track down my own posts, but it is almost 01, and I still have not logged my notes. I keep trying!

Ooh! Shiny!

I cannot keep track of what I say and I could not possibly keep up if I were a liar! I would be caught immediately!

It was the parts car thread and I did add the submodel information. Thanks!

I keep checking on that "HX" and this LX: https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/c...598934038.html

The owner of the "HX" deleted the post after a day, but made a new one asking $1,400.
Well, it is down now, and I cannot find any 1996 Civics in the Phoenix area, which is weird, because there are ten 1997 - 2000s. It was also posted on OfferUp with similar pictures taken in a different location, except it shows the front, and appears to have good paint. It also says "Sold." https://offerup.com/item/detail/492886547/

This looks like an HX for $800, although it says that it "needs some work."https://offerup.com/item/detail/492688397/ "5 speed d16y5 power windows and locks." It only has one picture and it is not a good one, but it has HX wheels!

I am worried about the engine!

My DX has pinstripes, in all their faded glory. But you're right, there's no LX coupe. Given the trim stuff you picked out, plus the tach I spy in the instrument cluster (DX's got no tach), I'm gonna call it a probable HX, though I'm sure there's a smallish chance it's an EX with a wheel swap.

Listen...I know it's nowhere near the $1500 thing, but I just kinda liked this ad, it's another one of the "sell via endearing humor" ads which pop up now and then...
