This was a feature of the 1946 Dymaxion House.

Quote:
The Dymaxion was also designed to stay clean, using a downdraft system to draw dust through filters in the baseboard, which meant less time spent dusting and sweeping. A ventilator in the top of the house drew fresh air in, expelled hot air, and kept the wind out, reducing heating costs in the winter and cooling costs in the summer.
Except that it was powered by the wind blowing over the top of the house.

True but there were tens of thousands of people that wanted to believe the impossible was possible and handed over there money.

I have always wondered if you could pull vacuum under the carpet and slowly vacuum the house through the rug. It just needed to work hard enough to keep up with the slow accumulation of dust.

That might work with carpet, but not the pad.

They make grates for cattle designed to squeegee the waste through the floor.

Perhaps a perforated top floor and a combo vacuum HVAC system. In normal operation, the perimeter of the floor has a low positive pressure that fills the room with conditioned air. Under cleaning mode, a strong vacuum is pulled to whisk away accumulated debris.

Don't know what to do about liquid spills. Would probably need to be modular tiles so once could pull them up to clean.

Still, server rooms have perforated floor tiles with a subfloor that directs cooled air primarily to the "cold aisle" of server racks, and is exhausted through high mounted vents.

Doesn't help with hair and peanuts though.

I'll go for a Roborock S7 for now

The big automakers could sell $10k cars in the States if they wanted to. But they're in business to make as much profit as possible and absent some production or labor cost miracle, it's hard to get blood from a $10k stone.

The $10k price war in Canada was probably about growing market share?
The 2021 Spark in the USA is $14595 and has a $500 rebate so $14,000. Even at invoice there isn't more than $1000 in markup and holdback on a $15,000 car plus nobody is selling anything below MSRP right now. And that only get 33 mpg combined. Now they have sold almost a 1/2 million Sparks so my claim somebody could sell a million at 30% off that price can't be far off.

The Mirage is now $15,600 as the next cheapest, and the Versa is close to that. At least they get a little better MPG.

My thinking is the floor should be solid, with radiant heating.

With an adequately high ceiling one could have a fabric tent structure and pull a vacuum above that*. Either pull the whole thing down for an occasional laundering, else spot clean it with a vacuum cleaner wand.

*Better to have an over-pressure room with exhaust through the fabric?

Our forced air return is flat in the floor so it does suck a bunch of pet hair down into it. There it travels down to the filter where it is removed. I have to clean or replace the filter more often but it does work a bit like a central vacuum. Only for light and fluffy hair or dust bunnies.

You have a point, but this was back in 2013 that the Elio price was rumored. What would be the price today?

I'd think these small outfits might not suffer chip shortages assuming they didn't rely on the same old technology the big brands use. They could be making hay right now as new vehicle inventory is low and prices are sky high.

My client decided to play Yahtzee, which was a significant improvement over hiding behind furniture and screaming "No Xist!" just like good old Mom.

I honestly don't think that I have played that game since I was a kid, but I am pretty sure that the game consists of more than throwing dice all over the room--and at your kindly speech therapist.

It almost fell down the air return a couple of times and the mom kept complaining that they she just paid good money to have them cleaned out.

Another client had checkers in his air return.

That doesn't sound like a perfect system.

Well saying $10,000 does account for inflation. The Elio was what $6800 when it first started taking deposits?
