Yep. Got all the important paperwork out of the way but my taxes for 2020 are going to be a ****ing nightmare to file correctly.

I'm going to be done with the car when it is falling apart. I'm going to keep this car a lonnnnng time. Probally until the industry figures out if it's going to go full electric for reals or not at least.

I need to do something with the wheel wells to quiet it down.
What about roofing felt around the wheel wells?

My known safe SPL for a car is 60dB or so unless I give up some of my meds (I've been trying a lot of different meds for something and nothing works right unless I lose some noise tolerance). Then it's a bit higher. I suspect being in a body that's so wrong for me is a lot of why I'm having sensory issues, seems like my sensory issues have been getting worse every year since puberty started, and when I'm dysphoric about my body my noise tolerance goes down a lot. In short, there's likely fair bit of stress that's going to take me most of a decade to escape. Hell, I might end up with a gf and later a wife before I'm finished with this fight.

I'm looking at something like dynasheet-- if I'm going to have to put a lot of work into pulling panels off to get at places to add the sound reduction hardware, I'm going to spend a bit extra for a better result. I have a few connections that want to help me find the best materials.\

According to the guessOmeter on the dash of this volt, I only get 35MPG in gas mode. Mostly since I drive it downhill and with a tailwind on electric, and drive it uphill and into a headwind on gas to get the engine to a BSFC sweet spot. Thus, I'm down to like .45 gallons a day now and I think I can get it down to 0.4 gallons a day.

A couple of applications of Spray on body undercoat on the wheelwells underside will cause the acoustic resonances to shift so you will hear less high frequency, but can't affect the low frequency road bumps because the whole car responds. For low frequency you need to add mass to dampen

In the Volt, a lot of noise comes from the back hatch. I used some door jamb seal strips for that, helped some. I surmised but didn't act, there is likely a lot of wind noise generated from the lip at the leading edge of the hatch.

Install some shag carpet and foam squares on the ceiling!

What I'm hearing is that I should break out the painter's tape and tape over that gap to see what happens.

I sold my 2004 Tdi 5 speed wagon and got a plug in hybrid ford cmax in 2015.

Didn't like it, so got a 6 speed 2018 Subaru Forester, which I loved, but sold because I inherited a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Everyone told me to keep the truck, but honestly I want my Subaru back. I sold it to carmax for 17100. They sold it for 21000. I paid 21500 for it in 2019. Used car prices are crazy.

Actually, I want my Tdi wagon back. Not sure what i was thinking when I sold it. it never failed to get at least 42 mpg. I once drove from Macon Ga to Houston Texas on one tank-828 miles. Averaged over 50 mpg at 70 mph. That's a story I don't tell often because so many think I'm kidding. The Tdi would hold 16 gallons, though it was advertised as 14.

I had a 2003 Wagon TDI 5-speed. Great car and I averaged 47 mpg over 10 years / 245K miles. My current 2014 is larger and nicer to drive but the mileage is a disappointment - only 37 mpg which isn't worth the hassle of dealing with a diesel.

Dumb question : how do you react to earplugs ?
I have a deformity on the left side of my body ( head to toe )
So my left ear did not form right, and I am mostly deaf.
Unfortunately, I hear high pitch sounds quite well, but low pitch, like speech are gone.

At work, I drive electric forklifts that have a constant high pitched warning beep.
It hurts my ears, so I wear earplugs.

Despite the earplugs, I can still hear speech and other outside noises.

It just muffles the pitch that is painful to me.

They are the soft foam type.

I'm anxious to see how you like your Volt.
Until just recently, I was going to get one myself.
