I hear you guys. I see as many Teslas as I do Toyota Camry's these days. And for you in the Cedar Hills area, I don't envy the congestion of your everyday life traffic. I've opted to live out in the Thule so to speak

Tules - The Oregon Encyclopedia
In Oregon and much of the western United States, tule is the common name for two species of emergent plants that grow in shallow water of marshes, muddy shores, and lakes. These sedges (family Cyperaceae) are named hard-stemmed ( Schoenoplectus acutus var. occidentalis) and soft-stemmed ( S. tabernaemontani) bulrushes.

I live farther out in Hillsboro and commute into Portland. Portland traffic is nothing compared to Birmingham, AL. Even preCOVID my commute was 30 minutes less than in AL for the same distance. Today my commute took 35 minutes

I moved out here from Birmingham. Bham traffic is waaaay better and faster than Portland. Have you not been recently? The only place where bham traffic sucks more than anything is trying to drive south down highway 280 during rush hour. I’d rather be stuck in LA or ATL rush hour than highway 280 rush hour

I knew there're a lot of members in the PNW, but I didn't realize how many came from the same town in Alabama.

Which is weird cuz most people in Alabama don’t care about fuel economy and say climate change is a hoax and the gas prices are way cheaper there. Plus the culture really likes trucks and sports cars

I lived in Helena, AL from 2007 - 2014. My wife's 8.5 mile commute to Riverchase took 45 minutes. My 30 mile commute to Leeds took 1 hour and 20 minutes. The vast majority of that (both ways) was the drive from Helena to the 65 / 459 interchange.

There is no good way out of Helena - classic suburban sprawl without any sort of city planning or building out roads or infrastructure ahead of time.

EDIT: 29 minutes from Swan Island to Hillsboro today at 4:30 pm.

It isn't that surprising considering the Birmingham metro has about 25% of Alabama's population.

they actually fixed 65 now. they did a bunch of paving and widening out. its about 7 lanes wide on each side till about alabaster. its probably the fastest interstate section in all of the bham metro now. flows really great
