GO&D:

Guns, Oil, & Dirt

Perfect urban vehicle. It's got rubber baby buggy bumpers.

The first three minutes are good — a speed-run modeling in Solidworks. It's a good start with a rounded parallelpiped that avoids the common too-boxy shape, but at three minutes they proceed to hand paint it. Confusing until you see the result. It has problems in the A-pillar, side window insets and headlights that the paint conceals distracts from.

Even though there are a lot of potholes in my hometown, I guess I would spend more time in the countryside if I had a Baja like that.

I guess it would not be impossible at all to make a street-legal Baja with some styling cues of those desert-racing ones, even though the longer wheelbase wouldn't be so desirable in a commuter meant to also be practical in city traffic.

Florida is weird:
Quote:
Although on most Florida beaches it's illegal to drive over sand dunes, it's still not uncommon to see dune buggies at the beach. Dune buggies are modified off-road vehicles built on a small-car chassis. They are built for off-road recreation, but it's possible for the vehicles to meet the legal standard for traveling on public roads. Florida law addresses that topic in Florida Statute Chapter 316.

Yesterday I saw a 3rd-generation Golf that was surprisingly in better shape than most of the ones that I still see once in a while.

I found this very interesting:

Put out by Hagerty, I think it has good production values. Available in 1080P, good music track for a shop; but what I really liked was the slow-motion tracking shots of the sped up action. The camera is never still, tracking, not panning. There was a railroad set up in the shop for that.

The opening scene set a tone, but the guy had obviously done hundreds of rebuilds. Watch at one-quarter speed and it's a tutorial.

Why isn't Off-Topic Tech in the Off-Topic sub-forum?
