How about that wedge shape with the three dash pods where the Beetle had two? No storage though.

Today on JACG, the Porcheli:

Just A Car Guy: in 1949 the Reimann brothers built their own sports car, the Porscheli, from the remains of a Kübelwagen Type 82, since in East Germany there was no way to buy such luxury.

But there were no sheet metal supplies, so, innovating as they must, they recycled 15 Ford truck hoods, also abandoned after the war, to build the body. They welded several of the pieces together to create panels, which were subsequently molded on the frame.

Fit, fettled and finished. Unless those were aluminum Ford hoods, it probably weights a ton.

Sure that attempt to make a 356 replica wouldn't look so perfect as an Envemo Super 90, but it's still interesting to say the least. I wonder if it retained the hub-gears from the Kubelwagen or if they got rid of that.

There is some parts interchangeability between the valvetrains of some Mercedes-Benz engines from the '70s through the '90s and Volkswagen's EA827 engine. On a sidenote, it's not unusual to see Argentinians and Uruguayans refering to the EA827 as "the Audi engine".

The most expensive VW in the world:

Just A Car Guy: There is only one of the Back To The Future screen-used DeLorean in private hands, and, more remarkable, it's really a VW Beetle with the DeLorean body over it so it could take the rough terrain driving in the old west scene s

$440,000 — it doesn't have 2nd gear and needs a tune-up.

This was always one of my favorites, because of a picture of it on it's back wheels throwing sand. But the reason I liked it was the wire wheels, now I see that that's a traverse spring front end that the knock-off wires were adapted to.
