I have already lurked about adapting a VR6 into some earlier VW, but would prefer it to remain rear-engined. Getting rid of the cooling system to rely exclusively on the cooling effect provided by the fuel would be out of question though.

It works for ⅛-mile runs.

Here's a slant four in a dune buggy. It's a nice tidy install with the battery and muffler tucked up tight. A VR6 would add weight and width on the head end.

edit:
How about an SP2?

Concrete they have been doing forever, but it's actually cement with either very small or no pea gravel, sometimes glass fiber. If the oil is hot, doesn't mean the block is much above ambient, particularly if it's dry sumped, common also because there isnt recip parts sloshing in the oil reservoir and you can plumb it to deliver oil even inverted, which as I recall, bad juju on a drag strip.

Not really my cup of tea. I prefer something more suitable to all-around usage.

This was actually not the first Volkswagen Up that I saw in a taxi livery

A couple of things from Just A Car Guy today:

That kart must be dragging the oil strainer on the pavement.

Plus two others.

I was ignoring some other VWs in the Pelican Parts thread, but this is worth a mention:

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-...l#post10987304

It appears to have a Type III engine, but I suspect the transaxle has bee raised to keep the back low with those tall rear tires.

What do you think? It looks like Koral Rot, but I'd spray out the white with Licht Grau for a nice 1940s style. Plus Moon disks.
