Have you watched people rescue abandoned Volkswagens?

I finally visited the friend with cancer. I had planned on staying one night in a hotel and returning for work, but she went to see her oncologist, said she didn't know how long she would be gone, and she was gone for too long for me to make it to my appointment, which I rescheduled from the day before--completely forgetting the make-up I had rescheduled from the previous Friday.

Why is remembering so hard?!

She came home and needed a nap. I asked if she minded me watching automotive videos, and I ended up on this: I watched about half before she got up, but I don't know how long I spent trying to find something interesting.

I couldn't remember Mustie's name, so I searched for "saving an abandoned volkswagen" and YouTube showed me these: There is a lady who does car videos?! She looks pretty! Mustie! It was Mustie!

The videos that don't load in other windows are 5150mxVW. Do push-ups, 5150mxVW!

There are plenty more rescued Volkswagens--and several random car videos, but once I found the channel I found the video!

In case you are wondering, it ran, but knocked, so no?

He did not post about it again, although there was an older 45-minute video of him finding it and towing it home.

Does anyone have a more satisfying video? All that time and energy and what?

It is scrap?

Maybe some parts?

Thanks for asking.

Titanium skid plates!

There's another video [I can't find] with as good a soundtrack, a European girl's car named Bomphy or something. When I'd scrolled down as far as Learning with Blippi I closed the window.

edit: Music's not as good:

Hey! A Jim Dandy roof rack:

Swan-neck fender mirrors:

Bellingham style, suitcase speaker box on a bare-spring back seat.

Another '66, a bling-y thingy from Australia.

The prices of Beetles are through the roof. Look at the 3D models at Turning a VW Beetle into a Porsche GT3 | Rendered with Kyza - Ep. 8 at 2:26.

I got a 1956 Beetle 3D model when they were only $25.

edit: I like this fender treatment. One could get off-the-shelf fiberglass fenders and drape fiberglass cloth over them, suck the air out with a Shop Vac, and add the resin.

Volkswagen Brazil and Chevrolet Brazil are independent companies

They also have a Gol, which is 75% of a Golf?

Google says it isn't portuguese for golf (that would be "Golfe." Ouch!)

Wait, what is golf in Spanish?

Google says "Golf."

It doesn't matter what it is supposed to be, some Spanish-speaker will use the English name, like when I order a steak, egg, and cheese burrito.

"¿Quieres decir `Steak'?"

Neither K nor S clusters exist in Spanish--like Español and related words.

Which is why native Spanish speakers would ask "You espeak Espanish?"

Wait, "Gol" is "Goal" in Spanish.

Google says it is in Portuguese, too!

So, in Brazil VW Brazil has a Goal.

Cool.

Anyway, the video is a little informative, but mostly loud and annoying. Kids nowadays!

It was phased out recently, replaced by an entry-level trim of the Polo. Such version of the Polo is even made in Taubaté where the Gol was made, while all other trims of the Brazilian Polo are made in São Bernardo do Campo.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Volkswagen_Group_platforms
Quote:
Volkswagen Group PL/PQ platforms
platform code used for notable examples
PQ12 (NSF) ultra-compact city cars Volkswagen Up, SEAT Mii, Škoda Citigo
PL22/PQ22[speculation?] BX supermini cars Volkswagen Gol, Volkswagen Parati, Volkswagen Saveiro LB20
PQ23[speculation?] supermini cars Volkswagen Polo (6N - Polo Classic), Volkswagen Caddy, SEAT Ibiza (6K), SEAT Córdoba (6K), SEAT Inca
It appears Gol and Polo are PQ2x, Golf is PQ3x and Passat PQ4x.

Both FWD, Gol originally with boxer four.

At least until the 5th generation of the Polo, which was never available in Brazil, the Gol and the Polo were quite similar in size. The 3rd generation of the Polo was sourced from Argentina in sedan and high-cube panel van bodystyles as a supplement to the Gol, Parati (station-wagon) and Saveiro (coupé-utility), and the 4th generation was made in Brazil in hatchback and sedan bodystyles. The Gol had been always longitudinally-engined until 2008, when the switch to the PQ24 underpinnings was implemented. The current 6th generation of the Polo is noticeably larger than the last Gol, which BTW never became much bigger than the earlier models during its evolutionary timeframe.

I was complaining that I had increasing difficulty finding anything interesting on YouTube and all of a sudden it was showing me all kinds of new content that I hated.

Someone described music as an interplay of melodies and said a certain genre didn't fit the description.

Well, that genre showed up suddenly in my feed, and in force.

Then tons of sports.

I have never watched sports!

I told it to not suggest each of those channels and at long last I saw another Mustie video.

He didn't get that VW running and I didn't find a follow-up video, but I did find this!
