I don't really believe older cars would become effectively outlawed, but anyway, I still wonder what would be the reason why many folks get mad at such projects. I still guess the FWD layout instead of the traditional RWD seems to trigger the haters more than the hybrid setup or the Japanese engine...

You can still do doughnuts in reverse and the steering turned fully to one side.

Oooo! I'm going to need to try that with one of my Prii!
I can usually only chirp the front wheels going forward. I've done it with both my 2004 and 2010. Can't wait to try it with the Firebrid!
Back in the day, I would take cloverleafs going sideways with my Pontiacs (including the Firebird.) The term "drifting" hadn't even been thought of yet.

^^The tires chirp and then the traction nanny gets up in your grille. And I just reversed up my son's girlfriend's steep driveway and discovered that the electric-only reverse "gear" isn't up to much. If you manage to make the wheels break traction on any kind of sustained basis, shoot video of it. I'm not certain it can actually be done.

Bah. A couple of motorized spinning wheel covers, a small smoke generator and a MP3 player with screeching tire sound is all you need.
4 wheel steering would add to the realism, but is a bit over the top.

G1's had problems with fried MG2's caused by wheelspin, hence the overly aggressive TC on the G2 onwards.

There might be a way to set the ICE to kick in earlier, enabling some more spirited driving (even though it would lead to a penalty in fuel-efficiency).
But anyway, G1 and G2 had a chain in their HSD units, while the G3, G4, c and v don't have it. So maybe it would be less prone to damage... |

On both my G2 and G3 Prii, If I press the gas pedal while my foot is on the brake at a stop, it will kick on the ICE.
